Northwest High School Bulletin for Friday, January 17, 2025
YOUTH CONFERENCE Juniors interested in government and law are invited to apply for the Nebraska Attorney General's Youth Conference at the Nebraska State Capitol on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The conference will provide Nebraska youth with an experience of state government and law. If interested see Mrs. Merritt in the counseling office.
ASVAB Juniors and Seniors- The ASVAB test will be offered one last time at Northwest on January 23 at 8:10. The ASVAB is a military entrance exam but is also used to explore future career options. You do NOT have to be going into the military to take this test. If interested, sign up in the counseling office.
NO SCHOOL Due to district wide inservice, there will be no school on Monday, January 20th.
ENROLLMENT FORMS FRESHMEN REMINDER: Your enrollment forms for classes for next year are due on Friday in the counseling office. If you have questions about classes see your counselor.
CCC CLASSES Students taking CCC classes at the college or online... Please remember that you need to opt out of the new book option that CCC offers. If not, you will be charged per credit for books that you may not need. If you need help or have questions please see your counselor.
SENIORS Attention- Seniors going into the career and technical science fields at CCC. This includes Manufacturing, Ag Sciences, Auto Body, Automotive, Construction, Diesel, Drafting, Technology, Electrical, Energy, Heating and Air, Heavy Equipment, and Welding. The Walter Scott, Jr. Career Pathway Scholarship at Central Community College closes on March 1st , 2025. The scholarship covers everything including tuition, fees, room and board. The link to apply is on the NW scholarship list. If you have questions see your counselor.
BOYS/GIRLS STATE Attention junior boys and girls- The American Legion Cornhusker Boys' State and Girls' State applications are now open. This is a weeklong event at UNL where you will hone your leadership skills and participate in different government activities. It is June 1-7. If interested, stop in the counseling office for an application!
SOFTBALL MEETING There will be an informational softball meeting on Friday, January 24th, at 7:40 am in the cafeteria regarding off-season workouts and fundraiser. This meeting is for all athletes who plan on trying out for softball this fall.
JUNIORS & SENIORS Junior or Senior Students interested in Welding: If you would like to tour Chief Industries on Jan. 29 please sign up with Mr. Harb. The tour will leave at 9:15 AM and will be back at 10:45 AM. There are a limited number of spots, so sign up soon!
SENIORS SENIORS: Today-Friday Jan. 17 is Coffee with the counselors!! Join us in the cafeteria from 8:30-9:30 AM. Bring your computer and we will help you get started on scholarships or just come down and ask questions and get help.
SENIOR BANNERS
Senior banners are now being displayed on the electronic display sign which is located in Rosencrants Gymnasium on the east wall. The banner includes a senior picture, name and icons representing the various school activities the senior is involved with. The cost is $25. Payment can be made via eFunds or you may bring cash or check to the school. To recognize your senior on the display board, please click HERE to complete the form.
